Due to COVID-19 guidelines, the Clifton Recreation Department has had to revise and limit the summer programs offered for 2020. We want to allow children the opportunity to get back to the parks and engaging in activities with other children. This year the program will be entitled "Summer Fun In The Sun" and will be a half-day program (9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.) run at various park locations throughout Clifton.  Participants will engage in social distancing, as much as possible, during activities that will include group games, crafts and sports.  The program will be conducted outdoors only. Participants and staff will be required to wear a face covering while at the program and parent must wear a face covering when dropping off and picking up their child (unless health regulations are revised).There are 2 sessions.  Each session lasts 3 weeks and is limited to 20 participants at each site.  Summer Fun in the Sun registration for 2020 will ONLY be conducted online.  In-person registration is not permitted at this time due to COVID-19 guidelines.  Visit here for registration procedures.  The program is open to Clifton Residents ONLY.  Pre-registration is required.  Registration closes the Friday before the session begins at 12:00 p.m.  Please be sure to select the site that best works for your family when registering because there will be no switching of sites once the program begins.  Locations may be combined due to lack of enrollment at a particular park before the program starts.  Participants will be notified by the Recreation Department and given an opportunity to change to another park site or receive a refund.     In the event of inclement weather, before the day begins, parents will receive a text message after 8:00 a.m. to alert you if the program is canceled for the day (there are no indoor facilities available).  Please make sure to sign-up for mobile notification under your account. In this week-long no-bake cooking camp, we will take our Jr. Chefs on a culinary adventure and pick a country per day then prepare fun foods and drinks from that region!  They'll learn knife skills, a multitude of cooking techniques, regional cuisines, ingredient identification, and they'll learn how to put together dishes from scratch! Countries include Mexico: empanadas, cold nachos with salsa, Italy: pasta making, kids friendly tiramisu, Greece: cucumber cups, hummus with pita, Asia: sushi making, spring rolls, green tea with honey and lemon, Germany: pierogis, stuffed strawberries and much more!  All products are 100% peanut & tree nut-free.  Due to COVID-19 guidelines, participants are required to bring enough water bottles to last each camp day. Feel free to send your child with their own hand sanitizer. Face Coverings are required for participants. Instruction by Chef It Up 2 Go.  Limit is 10 per class.Participants will be required to have a daily temperature check and health assessment upon arrival at the camp program before your child is allowed to participate. The Stamp Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the 1st, 3rd & 5th Monday of each month at the Community Recreation Center (schedule and times may change due to holidays/summer).  During scheduled meetings, there are demonstrations, stamp evaluations, & trading and selling of stamps.  Twice a year, the society sponsors a trade show. Kids learn about archeology and the techniques scientists use to excavate long lost cities in this camp! Discover ancient civilizations and the tools and artifacts that were used in everyday life! Study bone fragments, pottery shards, amber deposits, and fossils. Each day also includes a make and take-home project, like a fossil reproduction, an amber time capsule, and coins from around the world! Due to COVID-19 guidelines, participants are required to bring enough water bottles to last each camp day. Feel free to send your child with their own hand sanitizer. Face Coverings are required for participants.  Instruction by: Mad Science. Limit is 10 per camp.Participants will be required to have a daily temperature check and health assessment upon arrival at the camp program before your child is allowed to participate. Children overcome a series of challenges using basic materials, simple machines, tips from famous inventors, and most importantly, their minds in this invention camp.  With a bit of ingenuity, they create catapults and forts, construct working light sticks, and assemble a set of circuits with batteries and light bulbs. Eureka! Due to COVID-19 guidelines, participants are required to bring enough water bottles to last each camp day. Feel free to send your child with their own hand sanitizer. Face Coverings are required for participants. Instruction by: Mad Science. Limit is 10 per class.Participants will be required to have a daily temperature check and health assessment upon arrival at the camp program before your child is allowed to participate. Kids learn about archeology and the techniques scientists use to excavate long lost cities in this camp! Discover ancient civilizations and the tools and artifacts that were used in everyday life! Study bone fragments, pottery shards, amber deposits, and fossils. Each day also includes a make and take-home project, like a fossil reproduction, an amber time capsule, and coins from around the world! Due to COVID-19 guidelines, participants are required to bring enough water bottles to last each camp day. Feel free to send your child with their own hand sanitizer. Face Coverings are required for participants.  Instruction by: Mad Science. Limit is 10 per camp.Participants will be required to have a daily temperature check and health assessment upon arrival at the camp program before your child is allowed to participate. When dropping off, parents must wear a face covering, Maintain social distancing, and stay with their child until they have been tested and approved.  The program is conducted from 9:00 a.m. to - 12:00 p.m. Monday - Friday; however, you can begin arriving at 8:45 a.m. to allow time for the health assessment before camp starts.
