6:30 PM - 9:30 PM    Teen Open Basketball - Teen Open Basketball 2019-2020
This ongoing program is for Clifton Students ages 13 – 17 (18 if still in high school) at Woodrow Wilson Middle School on select Friday Evenings from October 11th through May 15th from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. You can access the 2019-2020 schedule online at www.cliftonrec.com/info/news/details.aspx?NewsID=4537.  All participants must be Clifton Residents and enrolled in school.  Register online or at the Recreation Department.  In order to attend the program, you must register and present School ID each night you attend.  Any participant whose registration is done after Thursday, of a particular week, will not be able to attend until the following week.
 
6:45 PM - 9:00 PM    Buddy Canteen - Buddy Canteen
This program is an essential service for our special needs population 13 years of age and older.  Activities include social gatherings, special events, crafts, trips and sports activities. The group meets Friday evenings from 6:45 – 9:00 p.m. at the Community Recreation Center, 1232 Main Avenue.  Program is free to Clifton residents and grandfathered participants.  Non-residents pay an annual fee.

4:30 PM - 6:30 PM    Fashion Sewing - Youth - Fashion Sewing (W)
This class is for students who LOVE fashion and clothing. Each student will learn how to read and work with commercial sewing patterns. Students will also learn to sew on a real sewing machine. Projects include pajama bottoms, simple skirt and tote bag.  This is a perfect class for those with experience as well as those without. All materials are supplied and sewing machines are provided for use during the class. Instruction by: So You... Limit is 14 per class.

Together, you will get a great workout using cardio, resistance training and kettlebell exercises, building endurance, balance, core muscle strength and flexibility in this 6 week class. Instruction by: GYMGUYZ. Limit is 20 per class.
 
8:00 PM - 10:00 PM    Adult Open Indoor Volleyball and 50 & Over Volleyball - Adult Open Volleyball
Adult Open Indoor Volleyball for ages 18 & over (no high school students permitted in program).  This is not a league, but a drop-in program.  Individuals interested in playing must first complete an individual registration and then pay $5.00 each time you attend.  You cannot register at the gym.  NEW REGISTRATIONS ARE NOT ACCEPTED ON MONDAYS OR THURSDAYS.  Each person is required to create their own individual account (except for married couples or if parent and child live in same household).  The program is conducted at Clifton High School, 333 Colfax Avenue, on select Monday and Thursday evenings from 8:00 – 10:00 p.m.  See link for current calendar below.  Calendar will be updated every 3 months.  If schools are closed, due to inclement weather conditions, all evening programs are automatically cancelled.  You can call the weather hotline at 973 470-5680 after 4:00 p.m.

This 6-week class is designed for tots ages 1 1/2 - 3 years old and their favorite playtime pal.  Participants will bring their adult each week to interact and play together engaging in various activities including learning about colors, nursery rhymes, songs, making simple crafts and playing games while fostering a fun learning experience, encouraging cooperative play, working on motor skills and much more.  All new activities, themes, projects etc., so if you enjoyed the class before this will be an all-new experience.  Instruction by: Robyn White. Limit is 10 pairs per class.

Participants will be tickled pink in this 6-week class based off the Victoria Kann book series Pinkalicious! Pink is perfect and will be lots of fun as we read all about Pinkalicious's adventures, make crafts, play games, wear our pinkest clothes and learn about how pretty many other colors are as well such as purple, silver and gold.  Think Pink! Instruction by: Robyn White. Limit is 10 per class.

Active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower-intensity.  The design of the class introduces easy-to-follow Zumba choreography that focuses on balance, range of motion and coordination.  Classes are broken down to include a 45-minute workout and 15-minute break during each session.  Instruction by: Katty Godoy, a Certified Zumba Gold instructor.  This class is run in partnership with St. Mary's General Hospital Senior Link. Limit is 25 per class.

Join SNAP-ED for this FREE 4-week class that will get participants on the right track by eating smart and being active! Through nutrition education, physical activity and hands-on recipes participants will gain valuable knowledge that can be implemented into their daily lives. Each week participants will receive informative materials and worksheets as well as a small gift each class. Topics include:Week 1: Get Moving-Emphasize the importance of regular exercising and body movement.Week 2: Plan, Shop & Save-Participants learn how to shop for nutritious food on a budget and how to save money.Week 3: Fruits and vegetables-Participants learn and come up with creative ideas to make half of their plates full of fruits and vegetables. Week 4: Make a change-Participants learn how to make healthier choices, how to make healthier swaps to incorporate foods that contains lower sodium, lower sugars and less fat.Pre-registration is required. Join the Clifton Recreation Department on a romantic Riviera Holiday at the Philadelphia Flower Show. No other region of the world evokes such powerful and seductive images of paradise. Jaw-dropping coastlines, mountainous green islands and never-ending blooms await in the everlasting sunshine of the Riviera.  Inspired by the world's exotic Mediterranean gardens, the 2020 Philadelphia Flower Show invites you to embrace your inner romantic and explore the allure and extraordinary plant palette of some of the world's most captivating coastal regions. The cost is $58.00 per person, which includes transportation and entrance into the flower show. Meals are not included and are on participant's own time during the day. Participants under 17 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Bus departs from the Lester Herrschaft Center (Senior Center) parking lot located at Linzenbold Drive and Dog Pound Road. There will be a pre-trip meeting at 8:00 a.m. in the Senior Center.  Buses will leave at 8:15 a.m. sharp and return approximately 8:00 p.m.  Participants will be transported by charter bus. Seating is limited. Register online or at the Recreation Office. Online registration ends 2/27/20 or earlier if bus is filled.  Please only add members of your household to your account. Additional registrants are required to make their own individual accounts.

The Stamp Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the 1st, 3rd & 5th Monday of each month at the Community Recreation Center (schedule and times may change due to holidays/summer).  During scheduled meetings, there are demonstrations, stamp evaluations, & trading and selling of stamps.  Twice a year, the society sponsors a trade show. 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM    Adult CPR, AED & First Aid - Teen & Adult - Adult CPR, AED & First Aid (Sp)
The CPR Module, including AED (Automated External Defibrillation), teaches participants to recognize and care for life-threatening respiratory and cardiac emergencies in adults.  Topics include caring for conscious & unconscious choking victims; performing CPR; care for breathing & cardiac emergencies in adults. The First Aid Module teaches participants how to recognize emergency situations; check the scene and call for help; avoid blood borne pathogen exposure; care for wounds, bone & soft tissue injuries, head & spinal injuries, burns, heat & cold emergencies; manage sudden illnesses, stroke, seizure, bites, use of EPI pen, poisoning; and minimize shock. All participants are required to take a written test and perform the required skills.  American Red Cross certification will be issued upon successful completion and is valid for 2 years. Participants must attend both classes in order to be eligible for certification. Instruction by Robin Romanski. Limit 10 per class.

Join SNAP-ED for this FREE 4-week class that will get participants on the right track by eating smart and being active! Through nutrition education, physical activity and hands-on recipes participants will gain valuable knowledge that can be implemented into their daily lives. Each week participants will receive informative materials and worksheets as well as a small gift each class. Topics include:Week 1: Get Moving-Emphasize the importance of regular exercising and body movement.Week 2: Plan, Shop & Save-Participants learn how to shop for nutritious food on a budget and how to save money.Week 3: Fruits and vegetables-Participants learn and come up with creative ideas to make half of their plates full of fruits and vegetables. Week 4: Make a change-Participants learn how to make healthier choices, how to make healthier swaps to incorporate foods that contains lower sodium, lower sugars and less fat.Pre-registration is required. 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM    Adult CPR, AED & First Aid - Teen & Adult - Adult CPR, AED & First Aid (Sp)
The CPR Module, including AED (Automated External Defibrillation), teaches participants to recognize and care for life-threatening respiratory and cardiac emergencies in adults.  Topics include caring for conscious & unconscious choking victims; performing CPR; care for breathing & cardiac emergencies in adults. The First Aid Module teaches participants how to recognize emergency situations; check the scene and call for help; avoid blood borne pathogen exposure; care for wounds, bone & soft tissue injuries, head & spinal injuries, burns, heat & cold emergencies; manage sudden illnesses, stroke, seizure, bites, use of EPI pen, poisoning; and minimize shock. All participants are required to take a written test and perform the required skills.  American Red Cross certification will be issued upon successful completion and is valid for 2 years. Participants must attend both classes in order to be eligible for certification. Instruction by Robin Romanski. Limit 10 per class.

Calling all Music Lovers! Join us on Tuesday, March 10th from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Woodrow Wilson Middle School (1400 Van Houten Ave.) for a FREE indoor concert. One of Clifton’s favorite bands Joey Arminio and the Family, will be joining us for this special concert. Be prepared to be dazzled with their talented musicians, great voices and, of course, the amazing showmanship. Enjoy non-stop entertainment featuring your favorite doo-wop and Rock 'N Roll memories along with a fantastic array of costume changes and energetic dances. This concert will be held in honor of Bob (the Musical Matador and Friend of Recreation) & the late Jo Obser who were key organizers of the Clifton Recreation Department's Summer Concert Series for many years. Celebrate with the Clifton Board of Recreation as we officially rename the Summer Concert Series as the Obser Concert Series. ALL are welcomed!

The Stamp Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the 1st, 3rd & 5th Monday of each month at the Community Recreation Center (schedule and times may change due to holidays/summer).  During scheduled meetings, there are demonstrations, stamp evaluations, & trading and selling of stamps.  Twice a year, the society sponsors a trade show. Together, you will get a great workout using cardio, resistance training and kettlebell exercises, building endurance, balance, core muscle strength and flexibility in this 6 week class. Instruction by: GYMGUYZ. Limit is 20 per class.
 
8:00 PM - 10:00 PM    Adult Open Indoor Volleyball and 50 & Over Volleyball - Adult Open Volleyball
Adult Open Indoor Volleyball for ages 18 & over (no high school students permitted in program).  This is not a league, but a drop-in program.  Individuals interested in playing must first complete an individual registration and then pay $5.00 each time you attend.  You cannot register at the gym.  NEW REGISTRATIONS ARE NOT ACCEPTED ON MONDAYS OR THURSDAYS.  Each person is required to create their own individual account (except for married couples or if parent and child live in same household).  The program is conducted at Clifton High School, 333 Colfax Avenue, on select Monday and Thursday evenings from 8:00 – 10:00 p.m.  See link for current calendar below.  Calendar will be updated every 3 months.  If schools are closed, due to inclement weather conditions, all evening programs are automatically cancelled.  You can call the weather hotline at 973 470-5680 after 4:00 p.m.

Active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower-intensity.  The design of the class introduces easy-to-follow Zumba choreography that focuses on balance, range of motion and coordination.  Classes are broken down to include a 45-minute workout and 15-minute break during each session.  Instruction by: Katty Godoy, a Certified Zumba Gold instructor.  This class is run in partnership with St. Mary's General Hospital Senior Link. Limit is 25 per class.

7:00 PM - 9:00 PM    Clifton Community Band - Clifton Community Band

This weekly after school program includes 2 games of bowling, use of rental shoes and balls.  Trophy awards and pizza party on the last day for all.  Register by February 5, 2020 at Garden Palace Lanes.  Applications are also available at the Clifton Recreation Department.  Fee is $8.00 weekly.  $2.00 donated back to Clifton Recreation each week per child.  For more information, contact Garden Palace Lanes at (973) 478-5750.

Course designed by the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports for individuals wishing to become certified as youth coaches.  The Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. clinic meets the "Minimum Standards for Volunteer Coaches Safety Orientation and Training Skills Programs".  Pre-registration is required.  No registration will be taken on-site at the class.  Instruction by: Don Benanti.  Limit is 25 per class.

6:00 PM - 8:00 PM    Family Bowling Night - Family Bowling Night ('20)
Gather your family, friends or co-workers and join the Clifton Recreation Department for a fun night of bowling at Garden Palace Lanes – 42 Lakeview Ave.  This event is co-sponsored by Garden Palace Lanes.  The event includes two hours of bowling, shoe rental, laser lights, fun bowling activities and more.  Each lane will receive one pizza pie and one pitcher of soda.  Additional food can be purchased.  Do not bring your own food into the facility.  PRE-REGISTRATION is required and can be done online or at the Recreation Office.  Register early, only 16 lanes are available.  Only one person per group needs to register for the event.  The cost is $47 per lane (a maximum of 6 people per lane is recommended).   Make sure to indicate if you want bumpers for your lane when registering.  Please arrive at the bowling alley at 5:45 pm to get shoes, balls and lane assignment. Online registration ends on 3/18/2020.
 
6:30 PM - 9:30 PM    Teen Open Basketball - Teen Open Basketball 2019-2020
This ongoing program is for Clifton Students ages 13 – 17 (18 if still in high school) at Woodrow Wilson Middle School on select Friday Evenings from October 11th through May 15th from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. You can access the 2019-2020 schedule online at www.cliftonrec.com/info/news/details.aspx?NewsID=4537.  All participants must be Clifton Residents and enrolled in school.  Register online or at the Recreation Department.  In order to attend the program, you must register and present School ID each night you attend.  Any participant whose registration is done after Thursday, of a particular week, will not be able to attend until the following week.
 
6:45 PM - 9:00 PM    Buddy Canteen - Buddy Canteen
This program is an essential service for our special needs population 13 years of age and older.  Activities include social gatherings, special events, crafts, trips and sports activities. The group meets Friday evenings from 6:45 – 9:00 p.m. at the Community Recreation Center, 1232 Main Avenue.  Program is free to Clifton residents and grandfathered participants.  Non-residents pay an annual fee.
