“Tis the Season”… Delight your family and friends with homemade holiday gifts and decorations this year.  This 3-week class is offered various times for children ages 18 mos. - 12 years old who want to give mom, dad, siblings, etc. something special just from them.  Instruction by: Robyn White (for toddler w/adult & pre-k class) & Linda Valenti (for 6-12 year old classes). Limit is 10 per class (toddler & pre-k) & 12 per class (youth 6-12).
 
5:00 PM - 6:00 PM    Karate & Ninja Martial Arts Lessons - Youth - Karate Lessons (Ages 6-14) (F)
Learn the basics of Karate and Ninja Arts in this program.  All classes are taught by the Academy of Martial Arts.  Limit is 14 per class.
 
8:00 PM - 10:00 PM    Adult Open Indoor Volleyball and 50 & Over Volleyball - Adult Open Volleyball
Adult Open Indoor Volleyball for ages 18 & over (no high school students permitted in program).  This is not a league, but a drop-in program.  Individuals interested in playing must first complete an individual registration and then pay $5.00 each time you attend.  You cannot register at the gym.  NEW REGISTRATIONS ARE NOT ACCEPTED ON MONDAYS OR THURSDAYS.  Each person is required to create their own individual account (except for married couples or if parent and child live in same household).  The program is conducted at Clifton High School, 333 Colfax Avenue, on select Monday and Thursday evenings from 8:00 – 10:00 p.m.  See link for current calendar below.  Calendar will be updated every 3 months.  If schools are closed, due to inclement weather conditions, all evening programs are automatically cancelled.  You can call the weather hotline at 973 470-5680 after 4:00 p.m.

The Garden Club meets at 7:00 p.m. on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at the Lester Herrschaft Center behind City Hall.  The club is involved with the Morris Canal Park, city plantings at Allwood & Main Libraries, and community events. Zumba Kids classes feature kid-friendly routines based on original Zumba choreography. We break down the steps, add games, activities and cultural exploration elements into the class structure. These classes are perfect for our younger Zumba fans! Kids 7-12 years old get the chance to be active and jam out to their favorite music.  Zumba Kids will help develop a healthy lifestyle and incorporate fitness as a natural part of children's lives by making fitness fun. Classes incorporate key childhood development elements like leadership, respect, teamwork, confidence, self-esteem, memory, creativity, coordination, cultural awareness. Instruction by: Katty Godoy, a Certified Zumba instructor.  Limit is 15 per class.

Zumba classes feature exotic rhythms set to high-energy Latin and international beats.  Before participants know it, they’re getting fit and their energy levels are soaring!  There’s no other fitness class like a Zumba fitness-party.  It’s easy to do, effective and totally exhilarating.  Classes are broken down to include a 45-minute workout and 15-minute break during each session.  Instruction by: Katty Godoy, a Certified Zumba instructor.  Limit is 25 per class.

Active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower-intensity.  The design of the class introduces easy-to-follow Zumba choreography that focuses on balance, range of motion and coordination.  Classes are broken down to include a 45-minute workout and 15-minute break during each session.  Instruction by: Katty Godoy, a Certified Zumba Gold instructor.  This class is run in partnership with St. Mary's General Hospital Senior Link.  Limit is 25 per class.

5:00 PM - 6:00 PM    Peruvian Dance - Youth - Peruvian Dance (Ages 5-8) (F)
Marinera Nortena is a coastal dance of Peru.  It is derived from Andean, Andalusian Spanish and African roots.  It is a graceful and romantic couple's dance that uses handkerchiefs with the dancer's hands.  The dance is an elegant and stylized re-enactment of a courtship and it shows a blend of the different cultures of Peru.  The dance itself has gained a lot of recognition and is one of the most popular traditional dances of Peru. Parents are welcome to attend the final class in which students will put into practice the skills that they've learned at a dance recital. Instruction by: Rosa Carhuallanqui.  Limit is 10 per class.

Create artworks inspired by famous artists who explore color, celebrate uniqueness, innovate with paints, and highlight different cultures. New projects each week/session - drawing 3D art and more! Instruction by: Abrakadoodle. Limit is 15 per class.
 
6:00 PM - 7:00 PM    ABT Fitness - Teen & Adult - ABT Fitness (F)
A great class whether you’re just starting out new to exercise, or are looking for a great workout to help strengthen, tone and firm your lower body.  Classes use a variety of fun physical movements from resistance training workouts, Pilates, yoga, plyometric, dance, and cutting edge aerobics focused on toning and shaping your Abs, Butt & Thigh muscles.  Exercises can be done with or without equipment.  This class is full of energy, great music and a fusion of lower body exercises for a positive fun experience.  This class is also suitable for men.  Instruction by: Meriterese Racanelli, MS.  Limit is 16 per class.
 
7:00 PM - 8:00 PM    Playing In The Big Leagues Volleyball - Youth & Teen - Playing In The Big Leagues Volleyball (Ages 7-14) (F)
This 6-week beginner instructional program is designed for individuals looking to learn basic skills and basic play of this great lifetime sport.  Learn passing, setting, hitting and serving as well as basic rules of the game.  Instruction by: Katterine Godoy.  Limit is 12 per class.
 
7:00 PM - 9:00 PM    Learn to Sew for Adults - Adult - Learn to Sew for Adults (F)
This adult class is for those who want to learn to sew, need to learn to sew for college application, or need a refresher sewing class.  Students will bring in a clothing pattern of their choosing, and will learn to read and fit their pattern as well as the various techniques necessary for successful completion of their project.  Patterns and supplies needed for this class will be discussed in the first session.  Sewing machines will be provided for use.  Senior discount is not available for this program.  Instruction by: So You...  Limit is 12 per class.

This ongoing program is for Clifton Students ages 13 – 17 (18 if still in high school) at Woodrow Wilson Middle School on select Friday Evenings from October 12th through May 17th from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. You can access the 2017-2018 schedule online at www.cliftonrec.com/info/news/details.aspx?NewsID=4535.  All participants must be Clifton Residents and enrolled in school.  Register online or at the Recreation Department.  In order to attend the program, you must register and present School ID each night you attend.  Any participant whose registration is done after Thursday, of a particular week, will not be able to attend until the following week.
