Peruvian Dance Beginners - Youth, Teen & Adult

This program is currently unavailable. Click here to view all of our current programs.

Marinera Nortena is a coastal dance of Peru.  It is derived from Andean, Andalusian Spanish and African roots.  It is a graceful and romantic couple's dance that uses handkerchiefs with the dancer's hands.  The dance is an elegant and stylized re-enactment of a courtship and it shows a blend of the different cultures of Peru.  The dance itself has gained a lot of recognition and is one of the most popular traditional dances of Peru.  This class is open to youth ages 5 & older through adults so sign up an individual or each member of your family. Parents of our younger participants are welcome to attend the final class in which students will put into practice the skills that they've learned at a dance recital. Instruction by: Rosa Carhuallanqui.  Limit is 12 per class.
