Dates:

(Please Note: There are a few optional field trips taken throughout the summer on select Tuesdays and Wednesdays, however any participant not registered for a trip will have to remain home for the day as all staff are needed for supervision. This excludes bowling on Tuesdays).

Participants:
Participants must be 6 as of October 1, 2018 through 13 as of October 1, 2018. Children completing 9th grade or who are 15 years of age or older, should apply for the Future Leaders Program. Allsport participants will be divided into age groups based on birthdate and enrollment. Participants may be placed by the Recreation Department in different groups from one week to another based on that week's enrollment.

Registration:
Pre-registration is required. There are 6 sessions. Each session lasts one week and is limited to 140 participants. Summer Program registration for 2019 will be conducted online including trips and special events. If you do not have access to a computer at home, you can come into the Recreation Department and use one of our computers. Non-residents are not eligible to register until one week prior to the start of the summer program (June 24th) at which time registration will be open, at the non-resident rate, if space is still available.

Fee:
$50.00 resident / $70.00 non-resident per session except for session 1 which is $30.00 residents / $50.00 non residents per session (additional costs for trip, special events & T-shirts).

Please note, the schools do not have air conditioning and the majority of the day is spent outdoors for program activities.

Special Features:
Allsport (the combination of Junior SportStar and Allsport Programs) is a uniquely designed summer program where individuals are exposed to a variety of sports related activities during the weeklong program. This program is geared toward individuals who love sports.
The program will be divided into two levels based on age and will be divided into groups within those levels. Both levels will participate in activities that include fundamental skills, drills and lead-up games for various sports as they learn to master skills needed to play. In addition, all participants will have a rec. sports session each day and a crafts session once per week. Miscellaneous sports related activities will be conducted throughout the week such as contests, trivia, special awards and more.

Trips/Events:
Trips and events can be paid online with, credit or debit card, up until 12:00 midnight, the Sunday before each trip. Payments can also be made with cash for check at the Recreation Office. Once you pay for the trip you are registered. If you do not pre-register for trips, payment for that week’s trips can be made Monday morning at City Hall and will incur a late fee of $5.00.The one exception to previous rules is the trip to High Exposure; that trip must be paid by July 24th and a separate waiver must be completed for your child to attend. Participants may only go on trips on the weeks they are registered for the summer program. T-shirts are required for all trips and may only be purchased at the Recreation Office for $7.00 each. Calendars will be available to inform parents of upcoming events and additional information can be found in the Parent Handbook, which can be found online below under forms. Below is a list of trips/ special events for each session. Prices are available online.

CAMP HOPE
Camp Hope, located in West Milford, offers crafts, swimming, athletics, nature and hiking. Pre-registration is required. The cost is $7.00 per person (includes lunch and afternoon snack). Only participants registered for the week of the Camp Hope trip may attend.

BOWLING
Bowling is conducted at Garden Palace Lanes in Clifton. Pre-registration is required. The cost is $9.00 per person (includes 2 games and shoes). Only participants registered for the week of the bowling trip may attend.

SPECIAL EVENTS
Summer Luau: Thursday, July 11that School #16
(755 Grove Street) from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required. The cost is $9.00 per person (includes dinner and entertainment). Participant registered for Session 1 - 6 may attend. Participants are to be picked up and dropped off at School #16 by parents.

Summer Program Olympics: Friday, July 26th>/b> at Athenia Steel Recreation Complex (718 Clifton Avenue) from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Pre-registration is required. The cost is $9.00 per person (includes lunch). Only participants registered for the week of the summer Olympics may attend. Participants are to be dropped off and picked up at Athenia Steel Recreation Complex by parent.

End of Summer Picnic: Friday, August 9that Main Memorial Park(1395 Main Avenue) from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Pre-registration is required. The cost is $9.00 per person (includes lunch and rides). Participant registered for Session 1 - 6 may attend. Participants are to be picked up and dropped off at Main Memorial Park by parents.

Request For Summer Aides:
If you feel your child is in need of an aide to assist/shadow them at the summer programs, you must make a request through the Recreation Department by June 7th (No Exceptions). At the time of request you must submit a copy of your child’s I.E.P. Report (if you also have a 504 Plan please submit with your I.E.P.). Assignments will be made based on a review of your child’s documents and results of an interview. This will help determine the best strategy to assist your child in having a memorable and safe summer. After June 7th we will contact you to set up an interview. Once the summer program begins, aides cannot be hired.
